Delaware Asthma Consortium Programs

OVER THE PHONE ASTHMA ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
This is a program to help families in Delaware who have children with asthma learn more about potential asthma triggers in their home.  This program takes place over 6 months and includes a baseline assessment, a 3 month survey and a 6 month survey. Once this is completed, participants receive a $50 Walmart gift card.

ASTHMA CAMP
Asthma Camp is a great way for children ages 7-11 years old to learn how to better manage their asthma. Medical volunteers are at camp the entire time to make sure the children are safe. Not only do the children learn how to better manage asthma, but they also participated in great activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking and low ropes course!

open-airways-imageOPEN AIRWAYS FOR SCHOOLS
Open Airways for Schools is an evidence based asthma management program for children eight to eleven years old.  There is a particular sensitivity to the needs of lower-literacy and multi-cultural children. The program consists of six, one-hour interactive sessions for children that are held during the school day but are separate from the actual classroom. This training costs $175 per person and includes the training and facilitator materials. Stipends may be available!

BREATHE WELL LIVE WELL
Breathe Well, Live Well is designed to teach adults the skills to reduce illness and disability due to asthma by improving asthma knowledge and self-management skills. This adult asthma management program uses an interactive support group approach to success.  It is delivered over 2 hours.

AIR QUALITY AND ASTHMA OUTREACH
Schools and community can learn the connection between air quality and asthma through Tropo, a new friend to the Air Quality Partnership and Delaware. Tropo provides in person presentations and can attend community events.  If you are interested in having him attend your school or community event, please contact Randi Novakoff to learn more.
